Product Description
The Smart Oven's Element IQ puts the power where it's needed most. For each of the 9 pre-set programs, Element IQ delivers the right power at the right time and when adjusted to taste, it even remembers. Element IQ works much like the dimmer in your light switch-it can turn the power up or down. Instead of the 5 heating elements having a fixed wattage, Element IQ automatically puts the power where it is needed most for the specific cooking task. Not only does the Smart Oven heat up faster than a conventional wall oven, it's also more energy efficient than its predecessor, making it a kitchen tool you will use every day.
Customer Reviews
y Jeff (Beaufort SC): I bought this toaster oven after buying 4 others on the market first. Let me save you some time and hassle. If you are looking at this toaster as an option and the price didn't completely scare you away, than buy it.
I bought and returned the following before getting the Smart oven.
1. Breville compact smart oven. Which is fine except I wanted convection. I read a website that said it was convection, its not.
2. Delonghi D01289. It burnt half my toast and other half was under cooked. I feel it should be a good toaster first and everything else should be extra. You have to go through the entire control system to get you toast the way you like it.
3. Kitchenaid countertop convection oven. If it was digital i would have kept this one. The toast was great but couldnt get the same toast everytime.
4. Oster digital toaster oven. From target. I got this one home plugged it in and there was a non stop humming coming from the LED light it was annoying. really annoying. Not the best toast either.
My wife thought i was being a little picky for a toaster oven, i like to think i was being thourough. I bought the breville smart oven and it cooked some beautiful toast, and it remembers how i like my toast so I dont have to run through the controls everyday. If it does toast this good let me try some more stuff. I went to the store and got some fries and a pizza, and some frozen waffles, you get the point. It cooked everything great. I did have to turn the pizza, It is a bit cooler by the window of the toaster oven. Well I hope my trial and error helps you decide to buy this and not waste your time shipping things back and forth. Luckily I got free shipping both ways from the same place i buy my shoes. Except the one from target i had to bring that one back myself.
By Sparkle Plenty "Sparkle" (Snohomish): We love our Breville and never cook in our big oven any more. Alas 18 months from new it stopped working, completely dead. After some investigation it seems like there was no service center in our area that would repair it. Being 6 months out of warranty I held little hope that the manufacturer would help. I called their help line and after furnishing some information they sent me a prepaid mailing label to return the oven. They were very helpful and courteous, two weeks later a completely remanufactured oven arrived on my doorstep! It appears to be just like new and works perfect. Nice job Breville! It's great to know that even though the warranty period was exceeded they stand behind their product, as a premium manufacturer should. I would buy another one in an instant.
By Poppycock "poppin'" (LA) : This unit has an MSRP of $249.99. The smaller 650XL has an MSRP of 179.99. Yet everywhere on the web, they go for more than that, or they are "marked down" to full MSRP. Take the Amazon "17% off, save $51" deal here. They "marked it down" from a fake MSRP of $299! And you'll see idiots trying to get close to $400 for these on other websites. Even eBay is a joke in terms of the prices.
There are some things I would definitely go online to buy... Breville toaster ovens are not one of them. They are widely available at any Bed, Bath, and Beyond location, as well as a myriad of other dealers. Even the those living in the smallest, most isolated towns can easily find these. They are usually sold out, they are readily available. Who in their right mind would go through the hassle of buying online and waiting for it to be shipped for the exact same price? In fact, you pay MORE here, once you factor in the shipping.
Insane. Sellers online are INSANE with Breville stuff. It makes no sense whatsoever.
By K. P. Walters (New York, NY): What can I say, this pan is all other reviewers say and more. I love this oven, the way it looks, the way it works, they way it is constructed, pretty much everything about it. I have cooked bacon, fries, chicken, and toasted both bread and English muffins in it. Everything comes out perfectly. The bacon is crisp but never dried. Everything comes out very well. I am actually contemplating doing some ribs in the oven as I have read reviews and seen videos of people ding the ribs in the convection oven that come out great. The oven actually comes with very specific information in the instructional booklet for various types of cooking and if you follow the booklet, yo should have no cooking problems.
I have not used my oven once since making this purchase, I do not plan on using it in the foreseeable future, unless it is absolutely necessary to do so. I find that using parchment paper is the perfect accompaniment for the pans that are included in the oven as it enables you to cook and not worry about grease or sticking.
I would like to take a moment to address a concern expressed by other purchasers: The oven not getting as hot as it is supposed to. While researching prior to my purchase, I found several other reviews on different sites that mentions this issue as well. One of the most in-depth reviews I read stated that if you turn off the convection portion of the oven, which is easy to do, you simply press the convection button, and use the regular/toaster oven in pre-heating, the oven will reach the required temperature. You then just turn on the convection oven as you place your food in for cooking.
I definitely would reccommed the Breville Smart Oven to anyone in search of a convection oven, or even a top of the line toaster.
By R. Englehart "Randy E" (Quincy, WA USA) : I bought this thinking I would use it mostly as a toaster, but I use it quite often as an oven. I've used it to bake fish, pizza, chicken, and desserts. It heats up quickly and works beautifully for the two of us! |
